The Rally to Legalize

On May 6 2018 many rallied at the Capital in Hartford CT to support HB 5394. This bill would make Cannabis legal in the state of CT. This would allow possession of up to an ounce of flower and it would also allow a person over the age of 21 to cultivate up to six cannabis plants. The state would still need to develop a plan to legalize and regulate the retail sale of marijuana and to provide for substance abuse treatment, prevention, education and awareness programs and measures.

A poll conducted by Sacred Heart University showed that 71% of Connecticut residents support legalizing and taxing Cannabis. This level of support marks a HUGE increase since the last poll conducted in 2015, which showed 63% approval for making Cannabis legal for adults.

It is estimated that the regulatory body needed to implement the system would cost around 15 million dollars. The legislative session ends Wednesday May 9 2018. 🤞🏻
