Montana: Governor Vetoes a Bill to Repeal Medical Marijuana Law

A GOVERNOR FOR THE PATIENTS! -UA

NY TIMES 4/13/11

Gov. Brian Schweitzer vetoed a bill on Wednesday that would have repealed the state’s voter-approved medical marijuana law. Mr. Schweitzer, a Democrat, vetoed the Republican-backed measure along with several others he called “frivolous, unconstitutional or in direct contradiction to the expressed will of the people of Montana.” Voters in 2004 approved the use of medical marijuana by the very sick. There are over 28,000 registered medical marijuana users. Supporters of the repeal say that the boom has gone too far and that the voter initiative has too many holes to be effectively reformed.

  1. Thank God the Governor of Montana had the sense to vote down some of these bills that republicans were trying to pass that would of completely destroyed the mmp. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long road to a postive and definite resolution to their problems with the program. In the end it is only the people who suffer when things have to get this bad before they finally seem to want to get better.

  2. Montana has been to hell and back like a little wayne song. Hope things continue to get better for all the patients in Montana. Cause their situation right now.. not fruity and delicious at all.
