South Dakota’s Measure 13, which would have allowed patients suffering from debilitating or terminal illnesses access to medical marijuana, has been defeated. Nearly 50 percent of precincts have reported and 65 percent of voters opposed the measure.

Measure 13 would have made South Dakota the 15th state to legalize medical cannabis. This is the second time in four years that South Dakota has failed to pass a medical marijuana law.

Meanwhile, this just in via text from HT West Coast Editor David Bienenstock in Oakland:

“Spirits are still high at Prop 19 headquarters … Expected tough early numbers due to older voters voting absentee which are the first to be counted.”
